In 2023, the Upgraded MUCAR VO6 obd2 scanner adds the ability as an option to do Bi-directional Control (Active Test) and ECU Coding. This is not a necessary function to perform diagnosis and maintenance on vehicles. Click “Store” to activate it if needed.

Active Tests/Bidirectional Control (Special Functions):
Also called “actuation testing”, bidirectional control allows the mechanic to activate or test mechanical components on demand. This process tells you if individual actuators, valves, and pumps function the way they should, allowing for more efficient and effective repairs.

ECU Coding (Special Functions):
Helps Re-flash the hidden functions of vehicle control modules to achieve personalization, and helps initialize, match and reprogram adaptive data for certain components (ECU/modules) after making repairs or replacements.

What is the Actuation Test / Bi-directional control?
Bi-Directional Control capability and is capable of performing Active Tests to access vehicle-specific subsystems and component tests. The tester outputs a command to the ECU to drive the actuators in order to determine the integrity of the system or parts by reading the ECU data, or by monitoring the operation of the actuators.
What is ECU Coding?
The advanced coding function is used to re-flash the vehicle control modules, which allows you to update the computer software on the vehicle to the latest version, as well as to reprogram adaptive data for certain components after making repairs or replacements, providing solutions for the issues of drivability, fuel efficiency, power loss, fault codes, the durability of mechanical parts, etc. But please note, ECU coding is NOT universal for all vehicles, please check compatibility with the VIN number before purchase.
